In 1945, widowed artist Della Walker asked Frank Lloyd Wright for a house “as enduring as the rocks but as transparent and charming as the waves.” The Cabin on the Rocks on Carmel Point — his only house on the ocean — answered her letter, and stayed in her family for seven decades.
